CLiPS at Rochester Institute of Technology

Rochester Institute of Technology is well known for its information technology, engineering, art, and photography programs. It also has one of the oldest cooperative education programs in the United States.

Additional plans include:
1. Establishing a Polymer Envoys program with Rochester East High School

selecting high school juniors to participate in the summer research program
promoting awareness of the program among younger students through demonstration projects by the Polymer Envoys

2. Developing a Multidisciplinary Polymer Design Program that will

integrate team-building opportunities into the curriculum
promote interdisciplinary projects

PROJECTS
Initial projects involve:
1. Identifying and recruiting the following groups of individuals to the program

general and organic chemistry students
materials engineering students with no prior polymer experience
high school teachers

2. Redesigning the current polymer curriculum in the general chemistry laboratory sequence to:

enable students to contrast polymers with other substances
enable students to better see natural polymers from a materials perspective
take advantage of collaboration with SUNY Fredonia faculty

3. Upgrading laboratory equipment
