Activities in Platform IV are directed toward innovation with the multilayer coextrusion process to create new polymeric structures. Additional activities aim to identify, characterize, and utilize in novel ways the unique properies of the polymer interphase within microlayers and nanolayers .

Some of the projects in Platform IV include:

• Fractionated crystallization of polymers in nanolayers
• Self-assembly at the polymer interphase
• Aging of layered polymers
• Photopatternable multilayered films
• Combining self-assembly with forced assembly
• Exploring the interphase of vertical multilayers
• Ultra-thin films for dielectric applications
• Dielectric properties of layered films
