Welcome, New Faculty Members
Jim Andrews Jim Andrews is Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Youngstown State University, CLiPS' most recently added Affiliate Institution. Prior to joining the YSU faculty, Dr. Andrews worked at NASA Lewis Research Center (Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field) as a senior research associate of the Ohio Aerospace Institute. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University (Ph.D. - Physics), the University of Virginia (J.D. - Law), Cleveland State University (B.S. - Physics), and Bucknell University (B.A. - Philosophy). His published research is in the area of non-linear optics.
  S. Ray Bullock joined CLiPS and the Fisk University faculty during the summer of 2007 as a research professor. Dr. Bullock conducts research on a variety of material science concepts. He is a graduate of Alabama A & M University (Ph.D. – Optical Physics), Memphis State University (M.S. – Surface Physics), and Southern University (B.S. – Physics.) His research involves optical sensors and development of materials for solid-state lasers. He is also a member of the CLiPS Education Platform Steering Committee and is actively engaged in recruiting efforts at Fisk in conjunction with CLiPS and the Case-Fisk alliance.
LaShanda Korley LaShanda Korley joined CLiPS and the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University in July, 2007 as an Assistant Professor. She studied at Clark Atlanta University earning a B.S. in chemistry and in engineering. She also has a B.S. from Georgia Tech in chemical engineering. Her doctoral work was done at MIT and she pursued post-doctoral training at Cornell. Dr. Korley’s research interests center on designing functional materials with an emphasis on improving their mechanical properties. Outside of the office and lab, Dr. Korley enjoys running, reading and spending time with her fourteen-month-old daughter, Clara, and her husband, Julius, who is a Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering at Cornell.
